Five California cities have been ranked among the safest in the country, according to a SmartAsset report.

Santa Clarita, Sunnyvale, Glendale, Santa Clara and Torrance are all ranked in the top 10 safest cities in the countryaccording to an April 8 report from SmartAsset.

The fintech company reviewed 200 of the largest cities in the United States across five metrics: violent crime, property crime, vehicle-related death, drug poisoning death, and “percentage of the population consuming alcohol excessively”.

Each city was ranked in each metric and given “equal weight”.

“We ranked cities based on their average ranking, assigning an index of 100 to the highest-ranked city and an index of 0 to the lowest-ranked city,” the company said.

Frisco, Texas, took the top spot in the report with an index of 100. McKinney, Texas, followed in second place.

Santa Clarita ranked #3. The city is north of Los Angeles, near Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia.
