March 18, 2022

Washington D.C.- Today, LGBTQ Victory Fund, the only national organization dedicated to electing LGBTQ leaders to public office, endorsed Ron Galperin for the California State Comptroller. He is currently the Los Angeles City Comptroller and is the first LGBTQ person ever elected citywide in Los Angeles history.

Galperin would be only one out of two about LGBTQ people serving across the state of California. Ricardo Lara, who is California’s insurance commissioner, is currently the only LGBTQ person serving statewide.

Mayor Annise Parker, President and CEO of the LGBTQ Victory Fund, released the following statement regarding the endorsement:

“We are proud to support Ron and support his historic campaign. The son of immigrants and the first LGBTQ person ever elected in the entire city of Los Angeles, he has the depth of experience and political courage to get things done for all Californians. We are confident that he will leverage the community trust he has built to enact good public policy and be a strong voice for equality across the state.

Galperin released the following statement regarding the approval:

“LGBTQ representation is essential to advancing equality. The training and endorsement I received from the Victory Fund helped me get elected as City Controller in Los Angeles, and I’m grateful to have gained endorsement and support from the Victory Fund in my race to be elected California’s first proud state comptroller. . I look forward to working together to continue to create a more truly inclusive and equitable future.

Victory Fund named Galperin a Game Changer Candidate, a designation given to congressional and statewide candidates in historic races, which comes with additional support and services from the LGBTQ Victory Fund to ensure they win on election day.
