Install Dell Command Integration Suite for ConfigMgr

In this post I will cover the steps to install Dell Command | Integration Suite for ConfigMgr. If you are managing Dell laptops at your workplace, the DCIS is a great tool to use.

Dell Command Integration Suite Introduction

Several administrators want to better manage their Dell workstations. Apart from updates deployment, sometimes we also want to know information relating to the BIOS configuration, the drivers and to have more details on the hardware.

DELL has a dedicated tool and this can be integrated into ConfigMgr. It’s called Dell Client Command Suite. The integration of ConfigMgr with DCIS is very simple, you just have to follow the rest of this guide.

Supported ConfigMgr versions for DCIS

First of all before you install Dell Command Integration suite, you must ensure you are using supported version of ConfigMgr. Listed below are supported SCCM versions.

• Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager
• Microsoft System Center 2012 SP1 Configuration Manager
• Configuration Manager 2012 R2
• Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager Current Branch

Supported Server OS versions for DCIS

Listed below are the supported server OS on which you can install Dell Command Integration Suite.

• Windows Server 2019, 2016, 2012 R2
• Windows Server 2012

I would recommend installing DCIS on a server running Windows Server 2016 and above. This is because Windows Server 2012 and 2012 R2 are quite old now and with latest server OS you receive constant updates.

Download Dell Command Integration for ConfigMgr

To download the latest version of Dell Command Integration for Configuration Manager, click here. In our scenario, we are installing the version 5.2 that was released in December 2019. So this is the latest version at the time of writing this post.

Dell Command Integration Installation

Right click the executable and click Run as Administrator. On the Dell Command | Integration Suite for System Center Application box, click Continue.

Select the folder to unzip the files. You can leave it to default or provide a custom path. Click OK. Wait for the files to unzip and click OK.

Go to the folder path where you extracted the DCIS. Right click the DCIS Setup and click run as administrator.

On the welcome page, click Next.

Click I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.

Select Complete and click Next.

Click Install to begin the installation.

The DCIS installation is complete. Now click Finish.

One way you can verify the DCIS installation is going to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features.

Open the SCCM console, go to Software Library>Application Management>Packages.

You have new folder “Dell Client Deployment” and on the top ribbon, you have two new options:

• Import Dell Command Monitor Package
• Import Dell Command Configure Package
