Easy Steps to Turn Off Advertising ID using Intune MEM
Let’s learn how to turn off advertising ID using Intune (MEM). We will use Intune Settings catalog to disable or turn off advertising ID on Windows 10 and Windows 11 PC.
Every Windows computer has a unique advertising ID for each user on a device. This ID is generated by Windows and stays as long as the user account is active.
The windows advertising ID is used by app developers and advertising networks to target relevant advertising in apps. Based on your app usage and types of app you use, the app developers and ad networks can target similar ads which might be useful.
When the advertising ID is enabled, app developers can associate personal data they collect about you with your advertising ID and use that personal data to provide more relevant advertising and other personalized experiences across their apps.
There are multiple ways with which you can turn off Advertising ID on your Windows 11 PC. For example, you can manually turn off the advertising ID on Windows 11 via PC settings app.
If you want to disable advertising ID on multiple computers in your domain, you can use a GPO to disable Advertising ID. This method is beneficial when you don’t use MDM solution like Intune.
Microsoft allows you to turn off advertising ID using Intune on your computer to prevent apps from showing relevant ads.
Note that turning the advertising ID off will not reduce the number of ads you see. It won’t block ads in apps, but the future advertisements you see won’t be personalized. It may also mean that ads are less interesting and relevant to you.
