Install ConfigMgr Hotfix KB14978429
There are multiple steps required to install ConfigMgr Hotfix KB14978429. Follow the steps in order to install the KB14978429 update. As an example, I will be installing the KB14978429 update for Configuration Manager 2207.
Step 1: Before you begin to install the ConfigMgr Hotfix KB14978429, confirm there is no installation of the MCC component in progress. This is done by checking for status message 9522, generated by the SMS_DISTRIBUTION_MANAGER component. The 9522 message indicates that installation is no longer being retried.
Step 2: Copy the new version of DoincInstall.exe, version 1.5.5.14088, to the {SMSInstallDir}\bin\x64
folder on all site servers, including the Central Administration Site (CAS) if present, and any passive sites.
If you are unable to get the above path, a simpler option is to paste the DoincInstall.exe to – <ConfigMgr_Drive>:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\bin\x64
.
As there is an older version of DoincInstall.exe file, when you attempt to paste the new file, you must select replace the file in the destination. This will copy the latest version of DoincInstall.exe to the folder.
Step 3: After you paste the new version of DocincInstall.exe in correct folder, let’s check the file version. Right click docincinstall.exe and select Properties. Select the Details tab and look for the file version. The docincinstall.exe version should be 1.5.5.14088.
Step 4: Uncheck the Enable this distribution point to be used as Microsoft Connected Cache server option in the affected distribution point’s properties.
The above step should be performed only if you have enabled the Microsoft Connected Cache option on a SCCM distribution point. Once you uncheck the Microsoft Connected cache server option, click Apply and OK to save the changes.
Wait for the uninstall of MCC to complete on the distribution point. This can be confirmed by looking for a 9152 success status message, combined with the following entry in distmgr.log.
Finished waiting for DoincInstall. InvocationState: UninstallCompleted. InvocationExitCode: 0. InvocationMessage: .

This completes the steps to install hotfix KB14978429 for Configuration Manager 2207. You can use the same steps to install it for other versions.
