Configuration Manager Technical Preview Update 1610
Microsoft recently announced Configuration Manager Technical Preview Update 1610. The idea behind Configuration Manager Technical Preview release is you get access to new features.
Use your lab environment to test these new features. In other words with Configuration Manager Technical Preview you are aware of upcoming features. You will find the update 1610 for Technical Preview Branch in the Configuration Manager console.
Do not install tech preview on prod environment. You can install this update over previous tech preview version only.
What’s new in Configuration Manager Technical Preview Update 1610
In the Configuration Manager Technical Preview Update 1610 you get the following new features :-
- Option to exclude clients from auto-upgrade – With this option you can now specify a collection to exclude specific clients from the upgrade. Very useful feature especially for admins who are concerned about upgrading the clients.
- Content size filters in ADR’s – When you are using automatic deployment rules to deploy updates, you can now use content size filters. With this feature, you can prevent auto-download of large updates that consumes giant bandwidth. In other words you have better control over the updates download.
- Better control over Application requests – The SCCM admins can now deny the application requests that were previously approved. If the user previously had access to application and if it’s unapproved by admin, the user has to resubmit it for approval.
- Intrusive notifications for Task Sequence and Required App deployments – User will now see more intrusive notifications for high impact TS and required app deployments. The users have an option to snooze these notifications. They can schedule it so that it will appear later.
