SCCM 1810 Hotfix KB4490575 – Software Updates Fix
If you are running SCCM 1810, you should see hotfix KB4490575 available in the console. The hotfix addresses the issues related to software update installations. The software update installations may stop responding during task sequence execution. Or never return a completion status while using software updates deployment.
Microsoft found that this issue occurs during updates installation especially when there are lot of updates. The updates are usually a mix of Office and Windows updates. More information about hotfix KB4490575 can be found here.
Furthermore in the Install Software Updates task sequence step, you would see repeated messages for InstallSWUpdate component in the smsts.log file. The message is Waiting for job status notification. While the WUAHandler.log file may indicate that the installation of all updates is successful, the completion status is never returned.

- This update is available only if you have previously installed SCCM 1810 Hotfix Rollup KB4486457.
- No restart required after hotfix installation.
- The SCCM client version post update install will be 5.00.8740.1031.
SCCM 1810 Hotfix KB4490575 Installation
The hotfix as usual is available in Updates and Servicing node of Configuration Manager console. To install Configuration Manager 1810 hotfix KB4490575 :-
- Launch SCCM console.
- Go to Administration > Overview > Updates and Servicing.
- Right click Configuration Manager 1810 Hotfix KB4490575 and click Install Update Pack.
Since I am installing SCCM 1810 hotfix in my lab setup, I am going to select ignore any prerequisite check warnings. Click Next.
Note that the update includes only Configuration manager site server updates and client updates. Hence you won’t see the Console Upgrade window during end of update installation.
Complete the next steps and on Completion page, click Close.
Go to Monitoring node and click Updates and Servicing Status. Right click Configuration Manager 1810 hotfix (KB4490575) and click Show Status. Wait for all the steps to show completed.
The hotfix KB4490575 installation is successful. If you have enabled auto client upgrade, the client agent version will be updated to 5.00.8740.1031.
